In 2007 we celebrate the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Swedish botanist Linnaeus (Carl von Linné). To mark the jubilee, Riksutställningarand the County Museum of Gotland are planning an exhibition in collaboration with the Swedish Research Council and the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. The exhibition will reflect the background to Linnaeus´ discoveries and inspire visitors to reflect on the way we perceive and order or systematize scientific facts. Linnaeus´ ideas and images will be presented. With the help of scientists, artists, architects, gardeners and poets, visitors will be able to reflect on the ordering of knowledge now and in the past. In conjunction with the exhibition there will be a series of seminars with contributions by artists and scientists as well as an educational programme for schools.
The exhibition will tour Sweden from January 2007 until May 2008.
Area: ca 150 m2 . Concept: Mats Brunander och Mats Widbom . Exhibition design, producer: Anders Rabenius. Project manager: Annmari Kastrup. Exhibition co-ordinator: Helene Larsson.
