Who could have hoped for so much interest for a 300-year-old? Well, Carl himself, of course. He would probably have thoroughly enjoyed himself if he had any idea of the commotion he´s causing.And the party has only just begun!
The actual date of the Linnaeus Tercentenary is approaching. Two national days of celebration will be held during the anniversary week in May. Thousands of guests will visit Linnaeus´ birthplace at Råshult and Uppsala, where Linnaeus lived and worked for 50 years. The Emperor and Empress ofJapanwill be visitingSweden , and the Swedish royal family will be attending the celebrations both in Småland and in Uppsala. Festivals, film premières, research stations, stamps, medals and dance performances are just a examples of the excitement that is available. And then celebrations will continue throughout Sweden!
